A razor should rest for at least 24 hours after shaving before it is freshly stropped on the leather strap before the next shave (not after). The linen coating on the back serves to prepare the blade before stropping on the leather side (pre-stropping).  During stropping, the strap must be well tensioned, as otherwise the blade of the razor will become rounded and thus dull. The stropping itself is always done against the edge. The razor is placed at a shallow angle on the strap, and the back of the razor is pulled away from the body. Then the razor is turned over the back and pulled back towards the body. We recommend repeating this process 40 - 60 times. Never pull towards the sharp side of the razor, as this will dull it and can damage the strap.
