Art as perfume – or perfumes as art? Playing with expectations is Andrea Maack’s craft. The Icelandic artist entered the world of fragrance through one of her exhibitions. With the creation SMART (Smell Art), she presented a fragrance that translated her visual art into scent. The concept remained: shortly after, she dedicated an entire art installation in Reykjavík to olfactory expression – under the promising name “Andrea Maack perfume shop.”
Maack’s fascination with fragrance continued to grow, and in 2012 she founded her own niche perfume brand. Together with renowned perfumers such as Alienor Massenet, Céline Ripert, and Julien Rasquinet, she creates unique compositions that combine modern art with expressive fragrances. At the heart of her inspiration lies her home country, Iceland: the structure of the perfumes is shaped by the untamed sea, rough rock formations, and green meadows. And to truly transfer a piece of Iceland into every bottle, all Andrea Maack perfumes contain 100% Icelandic alcohol and Icelandic spring water.

For Maack, fragrances are linear forms that move from the skin into the air. Comparable to a brushstroke on paper that glides from one point to the next, telling its own story along the way.
The stories each fragrance carries are rooted in the nature and culture of Iceland. The minimal design of the bottles also draws references to the fascinating island, defined by clean lines and a dark color concept. A concept that resonates: in 2018, the bottles were awarded for their innovation by Wallpaper Magazine.

- Andrea Maack Coven: a medicinal-green fragrance, fresh and deep like the first breath in the morning. With a creamy, soft opening of vanilla, whiskey, cedarwood, oakmoss, and cloves.
- Andrea Maack Ceramic: Scandinavian minimalism as a scent. A composition of clear notes with mineral salinity and delicate florals – featuring foliage, apple, lily of the valley, musk, and woody amber.
- Andrea Maack Craft: piercing cold that freezes entire lakes. In between, dry cedarwood and metallic accords unfold, layered with the depth of elemi and patchouli.
