Euphoria works like a state of intoxication with its own aesthetic and emotional intensity – and it’s exactly these moods that can be made tangible through fragrance.
Individual notes and accords function like scenes – they create emotions, tension, and imagery, much like the visual and narrative structure of the series.
Each main character is reflected in specific fragrance types – from minimalist skin scents (Rue) to bold, statement-making perfumes (Maddy).
Next week, the third season of the HBO series Euphoria premieres. There’s hardly anyone who hasn’t heard of it by now – or hasn’t seen at least one episode. It has everything it takes to succeed: a storyline that immediately pulls you in, actors who define an entire generation, and themes that many young people can relate to.
The series itself feels like a high – you simply can’t stop. Episode by episode, it becomes more intense. At times, you want to turn it off, and yet you keep watching. The protagonists, aged 17 to 18, have all experienced trauma in their childhood, which now manifests in drug use, violence, and a highly charged sexuality. Despite these heavy themes, the show manages to establish a clear aesthetic: striking looks, glittering makeup, and a constant emotional overload. Each season carries its own distinct vibe – from the initial rush to the loss of control, all the way to something we can’t fully grasp yet.
And this exact vibe isn’t just something you can see – it can also be translated olfactorily. Because if each season brings its own mood, pace, and intensity, the question naturally arises: how would that work as a fragrance? Which notes capture this state, and which scent actually fits which season?
Fragrances carry their own stories – almost like short films. They create moods, trigger imagery, and tell a clear narrative through individual notes and accords. That makes them the perfect counterpart to Euphoria. Because if each season has its own dynamic, tension, and atmosphere, it inevitably leads to the question: how can this story be translated olfactorily – and why do certain scent accords fit this world better than others?
The first season is the introduction: characters are established, their traumas revealed, and their personalities gradually unfold. At the center is Rue, who ends up in the hospital after an overdose and is in withdrawal – at least in theory. In reality, she repeatedly relapses, falling back into drug use despite the concerns of those around her. The season is anything but gentle: exaggerated, intense, and at times uncomfortably close. Relationships form and fall apart in the same moment, all while a constant feeling lingers: everything is possible, but nothing is stable.
Ambr Super by Son Venïn fits this state with surprising precision. The scent has a clean, almost transparent warmth that builds slowly without ever becoming loud. As a skin scent, it stays close to the body – just as the first season stays close to its characters. It’s not about distance, but about immediate proximity, almost like being right there.
At the same time, the fragrance thrives on contrast: warm amber and woods meet the bright, synthetic character of Iso E Super. These contrasts define the season as well – between dark, isolated moments and brief flashes of closeness, lightness, and hope. Ambr Super works like a quiet soundtrack: subtle, yet constantly present. It doesn’t explain or resolve anything – it sustains tension, which is exactly why it fits the first season so well.
Top Notes: Cardamom
Heart Notes: Plum, Ambrette, Tonka Bean
Base Notes: Ambrox, Cedarwood, White Oak, Sandalwood, Musk
Season two feels like the aftermath: darker, slower, and far more uncomfortable. Situations become more serious, any sense of lightness disappears, relationships break apart, and conflicts intensify. The characters seem more exhausted and vulnerable, yet also more uncompromising. Decisions carry real consequences, and suddenly there’s a weight hanging over everything that can’t be shaken off.
This heaviness is captured with striking precision by Terroni from Orto Parisi, making it a particularly fitting translation of this season. It starts restrained and almost quiet before gradually condensing and eventually breaking open. It’s not a smooth progression, but rather an emotional eruption – direct, intense, almost aggressive on the skin, much like the moments in the series when everything spirals. The fragrance works with earthy, dry notes, dark woods, and resinous, almost burnt accords that create a tangible heat. That’s exactly where the parallel lies: nothing is implied or reflected anymore – it’s acted out. Emotions don’t stay in the mind; they become physical. Conflicts that have built up over time finally erupt, and that sense of pressure finding its way out is conveyed remarkably well by Terroni.
Another scent that fits season two is Another World by Ephemeral Dyadic – the name alone says a lot. Compared to Terroni, it feels lighter, almost floating, unfolding with a calm, clear, and nearly familiar effect. The opening is slightly sharp and hypnotic, before green accords ground the fragrance and give it structure. In the base, warm cedarwood and soft white musk create an almost unreal, detached depth. Another World reflects a different layer of the season: the world within the high – the place where Rue feels most at ease.
Fragrance notes:
Raspberry, Amber, Benzoin, Birch, Cedar, Guaiac wood, Moss, Musk, Patchouli, Tonka, Vanilla, Vetiver
So far, season three can only be speculated about. The trailer already hints at new dynamics: fresh relationships, familiar characters in new life realities, and challenges that feel more grown-up. The story isn’t fully tangible yet – and that’s exactly what makes it interesting. If the development of previous seasons continues, this one will move even further away from clear structures and fixed lines.
Fantasma Overglow by Iggywoo captures this feeling well. The scent is present without ever being fully graspable – like a veil that blurs realities into one another. At the same time, it carries something luminous, almost electric, running through the composition, paired with a subtle, tingling tension. It creates a sense of anticipation – of something that is just beginning to take shape but isn’t fully defined yet, much like the excitement surrounding the new season.
Top note: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Bitter Orange
Heart note: Frankincense, Cedar
Base notes: Royal Indian Oud, Amber
While watching the series, you often feel closer to the characters than you’d like – almost as if you were part of their world. That’s where it gets interesting: what fragrances would Rue, Jules, Maddy, and the others actually wear?
Certain scent profiles align surprisingly well with their personalities, their tensions, and their contradictions.
Now it’s your turn!
For each character, we’ve selected two fragrances that capture their vibe particularly well. Would you assign them the same scents? Find out. 😉
Escentric Molecules – Molecule 01: Iso E Super in its pure form. Hardly tangible and barely noticeable

Borntostandout – Dirty Rice: Sweet, but not sugary. Creamy, slightly strange – the perfect balance between innocence and irritation
D.S. & Durga – Debaser: Green, milky fig. Playful, yet with an edge – just like the character herself

19-69 – Female Christ: Spicy, warm, slightly provocative. A fragrance that intentionally challenges – and gains maximum presence because of it.
Byredo – Blanche: Clean, soft, almost too perfect. Like an image Cassie is trying to preserve.
BDK Parfums – Bouquet de Hongrie: Floral, clean, slightly cool. Elegant, almost flawless, with a subtle distance that never fully reveals itself.
Nasomatto – Duro: Dry, woody, uncompromising. A scent that radiates dominance without being loud.
